Study and Research Opportunities

We welcome motivated international students and early-career researchers interested in hydrogen energy, sustainable energy technologies, and related materials research.
Research opportunities at HERC are primarily supported through national and institutional programs. Below are the main pathways for international students to join research activities at NCU and collaborate with HERC faculty.

International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP)

The International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP) is funded by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and provides funded short-term research internships in Taiwan. Internships are hosted by participating research groups and laboratories in Taiwan.

Program highlights:

Open to international undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students
Internship duration typically ranges from several weeks to a few months
Financial support provided according to program guidelines

Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP)

The Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP), supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE), offers short-term research training and internship opportunities for international students. TEEP is suitable for students seeking research exposure in hydrogen energy, materials science, and related fields.

Program highlights:

Short-term research or laboratory-based training
Open to international undergraduate and graduate students
Flexible project-based participation

Degree Programs at National Central University

International students interested in degree-seeking programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) at NCU should apply through the Office of International Affairs.
Information on admission requirements, application timelines, English-taught programs, and scholarships is available on the official admissions website.

Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP)

The Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) is administered by Academia Sinica and supports international students pursuing PhD-level research in Taiwan.

Key features:

English-taught doctoral programs
Competitive fellowships and research training
Access to Academia Sinica and partner university research resources

How to Apply

Applicants are strongly encouraged to:

1. Review the eligibility and application requirements of each program
2. Identify potential supervisors at NCU whose research aligns with their academic background
3. Apply directly through the official program platforms listed above

Please note that HERC does not independently offer fully funded internships currently; funding and eligibility are determined by the respective programs.
